원주민선교는 1999년 첫 선교팀 파송을 시작으로 올해로 20년을 맞이하고 있습니다. 매년 청년, 장년 및 어린이 등 100여명 이상의 교회 지체들이 참여하고 있으며, 선교 지역인 위니웨이(Winneway)와 와스와니피(Waswanipi) 지역을 복음화하여 예수님이 우리에게 지상명령으로 부여한 임무(Mission)를 완성하는 것을 목표로 하고 있습니다. 한국 사람이 일본을 싫어하듯 캐나다 원주민들도 백인을 싫어하기 때문에 캐나다에서의 원주민 선교는 한인교회를 중심으로 선도되고 있습니다. 또한 그동안 원주민 선교를 해오던 한인교회들도 그들의 뻣뻣하고 변화되지 않는 삶에 실망하여 선교를 포기하고 있는 실정입니다. 오타와한인교회 원주민선교팀은 20년의 지속적인 선교 활동으로 원주민 사회의 두터운 신뢰를 받고 있으며 원주민 사회가 복음으로 변화되는 그날까지 노력할 것임을 다짐합니다.
